“get me started” marks the 3rd collaborative effort between Kehlani and Syd, following “Out Loud” from Syd’s most recent album and “Birthday” from the last Disclosure record. After transitioning from “up at night”, the song sees the pair trying to understand the problems within their relationships, seeing aggressiveness, disconnection and acting extra as sources of these issues.
It leads to needing to decide if there should be a breakup at all, which Kehlani is somewhat fine with in her relationship, but Syd is reluctant in hers.
