THE MYSTERIOUS PRAYER ROOM
EPISODE 3
After my birthday celebration, I was so tired and my body felt numb. I needed to talk a walk to exercise my body.
We had a garden behind our house. So, I decided to go there and rest a while.
I went to the kitchen to get some water before heading out to the garden. I walked into the garden and the scent of flowers filled my nostrils. It felt so peaceful out here. I closed my eyes for a while and opened it in few seconds only to find a young handsome guy of about 18yrs staring directly at me.
I gave him an annoyed look. “Why was he staring at me in such manner?”, I thought within me. I stared back at him squarely in the face expecting him to say something but he kept mute. Then, I chose to break the silence.
“Good evening to you”.
He turned his head backwards as if he’s trying to search for the person I was greeting. I felt more annoyed. What an audacity!
I kept staring at him and finally he spoke.
“Hi”
Really?! Hi? I have not met anyone who’s so arrogant. I ignored him and walked to the gazebo situated at the extreme end of the garden.
“Can you see me?”, he asked.
Oh! He’s not just arrogant but also dumb. I scoffed.
Wait! Could he be a wandering ghost? What did he mean by “can you see me?”. Again, I had the flashback of my dream in the prayer room and the hands over my mouth. My eyes bulged in fright. There was no one in sight. I was alone in the garden with this strange fellow. What if he kills me? I can’t even think of screaming because no one will hear me from here.
“I got you!”, he said while laughing hysterically. I wasn’t finding it funny. I hated him more for that.
“I am Temi. The gardener’s son”, he said while stretching out his hand.
I hissed and gave him a frown.
“Smiling will do you good, you know”.
“Okay. I am sorry for pulling a stunt on you. But damn… You should have seen your face. You looked like a scared puppy”, he said amidst bouts of laughter.
“By the way, happy birthday to you”.
“Thank you”, I murmured. At least, I felt relieved that he wasn’t a ghost and besides, he has apologized.
I got up and started heading back into the house. He trailed behind me.
“What is it?”, I asked him.
“You look like someone in need of protection. So, I want to guard you”, he chuckled again.
Seems he laughs a lot. He actually has a very captivating smile.
“On a serious note, though, you look scared and worried”.
This guy literally read my countenance. Indeed, I was scared and worried.
“I’m fine. Thank you”.
“Okay. But I’ll suggest you take it to God in prayers. Whatever it is that’s bothering you. I’m sure God has a solution”.
“Thanks for the advise”, I said. He smiled sweetly at me.
“One more thing…”
I turned to look at him. He looked very serious and concerned.
“Watch your back around here and be very careful”, he finally said.
I stood transfixed.
What does he mean by that statement?
Was he referring to the garden or the entire house?
Does he know about the mysteries yet unraveled to me?
I wanted to ask him some questions but found him already pruning some flowers. I did not want to disturb him. So, I headed back to the house.
