How to learn to sing high notes loudly

It often happens that singing in a high register causes some difficulties for performers. And this is natural, because the upper and lower register of the singing range requires more effort than the average comfortable register.

But first you need to understand what is meant by high notes? Firstly, each singing range has its own upper notes, which correspond to the upper registers of a specific range and cannot be sung higher than physiologically possible, and secondly, there is such a technique as falsetto, most often this technique is used in male vocals. So, first we will consider how to learn to sing high notes in any of the registers, and by high notes we will understand the extreme notes of each range separately. Singing high notes is most often singing in the head register.
  1. Singing scales to the sound "p" or voiced snort. When chanting, you need to climb the scales as high as possible, then go down. This exercise strengthens the ligaments in the upper range well.
  2. Singing a staccato triad (do-mi-sol-mi-do or do-mi-sol-mi-sol-mi-do) up and down. Shoulders and chest should remain in place, you need to sing from the stomach, into the diaphragm. This exercise helps to free the vocal apparatus in the upper register.
  3. Exercise for singing octave triads up and down in semitones (do-mi-sol-do)
  4. Exercises within the octave with the repetition of the upper sound.

When training your voice on high sounds, you need to remember about supported breathing, do not strain your ligaments. Often, novice vocalists, when singing in the upper register, begin to lift their heads a lot, this is wrong. With this position, the ligaments are strained and the sound is compressed. Also, you need to remember that with any singing and when singing in the upper register, you need the correct vocal position, the sound must be sung not from bottom to top, but from top to bottom, so that there is a feeling that this is not the limit.

It often happens that the vocalist does not like how his voice sounds on high notes - nasal, harsh, shrill. This is due to incorrect vocal position and squeezing on the ligaments. Regular vocal exercises solve this problem. It can be difficult to hit high notes in a piece, especially if there are jumps, in such cases, psychological fear can interfere with the vocalist and, as a result, clamp on the upper notes. In this case, in addition to vocal exercises for interval jumps, the feeling that a high note is not high, that you can sing even higher, and that this note is not in the upper, but in the middle register, will help.

This helps to feel freedom and relax the vocal apparatus, which is necessary for a good sustained vocal.
