So, the first thing you need to pay attention to is to prepare yourself for vocal lessons, namely, these are breathing exercises. The extraction of sound from singers, as well as from athletes, is carried out on exhalation. To achieve a positive result, you need to learn how to breathe correctly. Generally, three types of breathing are used:
  1. thoracic
With chest breathing, it is mainly the upper part of the chest, collarbones and shoulders that rises and expands.
  1. thoracoabdominal
It is performed using the diaphragm, either it happens on inspiration, when the ribs expand evenly, the chest rises up, or the breath is made with the participation of the diaphragm and abdomen. It is with the stomach that a person who wants to learn to sing on his own, without a teacher, needs to learn how to breathe.
  1. Abdominal
When inhaling, the stomach, as it were, inflates, while the diaphragm lowers, and the chest is motionless. There is also a mixed type of breathing, when all three respiratory departments are involved in the process together: first, a breath is taken from the stomach, then the ribs expand, and gradually, the chest rises up. More information about breathing exercises is described in the article on our website "Exercises for setting the breath." Also, it is necessary to pay attention to Intonation (hitting the notes), for a clean hit in the notes, solfeggio lessons will help us (initial vocal exercises in reading notes without text).

The vocal apparatus consists of lungs (air source), larynx (sound generator) and resonators (sound amplifiers).

Resonators are divided into head (upper) and chest (lower). The cavities of the nose, pharynx, and mouth are responsible for the upper resonators, while the lower ones are located in the chest and bronchi.

Thanks to the resonators, the tone of the voice is colored with overtones. Everyone has individual overtones, respectively, the timbre (coloring) of the voice is also unique. There are no performers with the same voice timbres.

The lower jaw, soft palate, tongue, lips and cheeks - all these organs are involved in the process of voice formation.
