.....What happened man,what did she say, I mean,why didn't she accept your proposal,both Stan and Ken asked,but how was I supposed to give an answer to such a question ...
I wasn't talking,but the pain was evident on my face,I had a thousand and one thought going through my head. What could have happened?,what did I do?,where have I missed it,has Ehi doesn't want to marry me,what could be her reason,I needed to see her,I needed to hear from her, Stan had read my thoughts....
Come on man,you need to be strong,I am sure she has an explanation to this,may be she needs time to sort herself,may be she was caught unawares, please man, you gat to be strong, Stan encouraged...
AD, Stan is right,you have to be strong, I'm certain Ehi would marry you,she probably just needs time, please man , Ken added...
I didn't know what to say to any of them, I walked slowly to my car,I was about opening the driver's seat,when Stan rushed to where I was,and took the car keys from me,let me drive,he said..
I helped myself to the other side ,while Ken sat at the back... getting home,I went straight to the bedroom,I was trying to remember any way I had wronged Ehi, could she have someone else,the thought of that was so disheartening and it was driving me nuts.i didn't know how I fell asleep,I woke up the next day,still in my attire for the supposed engagement,I picked up the thinking from where I had dropped it, Stan went to work and returned,but my door was still locked,he came to my door, AD,you know you can't do this to yourself,you have to come out and eat something,these things happen, life happens,he explained....
I managed to have my bath, changed into something lighter and and came out for dinner...
Ken wasn't around,he had gone to his place, Stan made something and had served it in the dinning,,,I wasn't saying anything,I just ate slowly, Stan cleared his throat and began,AD,I know how much you love Ehi,I really do,but man, don't you think it could be a sign,I mean, don't you think it is the universe trying to tell you something, that perhaps she isn't the right one for you, maybe,just maybe you should back off andddddddd,enough,I interrupted him,we continued with our meal in absolute silence. ..
Three days on, Stan had gone to work,I was all alone,I hadn't called Ehi since the engagement, neither has she,when I heard a knock at the door,I actually thought Stan had forgotten something,as he had just left,I walked slowly to the door and opened it,low and behold,it was Ehi,I Just starred at her,not knowing what to say to her,even though there were so many questions i would have loved to ask....
She read my mind.,..
Amadi, I know you have so much to say to me,so much to ask,I know you were disappointed at me, please just let me in,and know why I did what I did,she said....
Of course I would definitely let you in,I thought within,,,I walked back to the living room without saying a word,then she walked quietly behind me.......
I sat down with my head bow,she sat beside me too....AD,I am so sorry for running off like that,I didn't mean to,I was just too shock,I didn't know what to do, especially because of all you are going through with your family,I just didn't know what to say,I didn't want to say yes because I wanted to,I wanted to say yes because I was sure,and convinced I could spend my forever with you,she said ...
So, Ehi what has changed,are you sure now,are you convinced or not,I asked quietly.....
She was looking at me,haven starred for some minutes,she replied,yes Amadi,I am ready to be your wife,she said....
I looked her straight in the eyes,it was what I wanted to hear,what I had longed to hear,I just didn't know why I wasn't convinced now that she was saying it......
Ehi,are you sure you want to be my wife,I mean,do you think we could grow old together,I asked her,,,yes,I do,she replied.....
I was Very happy,I smiled beautifully,and hugged her tightly, kissing her forehead, thanks alot honey,I can't imagine my forever without you,I said.
Excuse me please,I said and walked Into the bedroom coming out again with the box of ring,I went down on my kneels again and asked, Ehiwenma, please would you do me the honours of being my wife,I asked,yes I will,she replied, stretching her left hand out,I placed the ring on the fourth finger of her left hand,I was so happy that the woman i love had finally agreed to spend forever with me.....
We spent the whole day together,I wanted us to start making plans on how to go to her place in Benin for the necessary wedding planning and preparation,,,but she said no,she wanted me to have something doing first before we can think of the wedding proper,,I thought about the suggestion,and concluded she was right after all....
One evening, Stan called to inform me he had gotten a place,that he'd be moving out,I wanted to know why,but he said since I was getting married soon it won't be nice he's still around,that Ehi and I would need time to bound as couple,plus, he has a job that can take care of that,I thought about the whole thing and knew he was right...
Days later, Stan moved out,I went with him to his new place, and stayed for some days....
I continued job hunting, hoping and believing that I'd be called by one of the companies I had gone for interviews.....
Stan called to inform me there was an opening in his company, that I should forward my CV,I did,and in few days I was asked to come for an interview,which I reluctantly went, you can't blame,I had gone on several interviews,yet nothing...
I was asked some very vital questions,and I gave the best answers I could,,,I went home after which believing and hoping for the best...
Stan promised he was going to put in one or two words for me,and I was very excited....
After about seven working days,I received a text message from them saying I had been employed and to resume duty on Monday,I was more than happy,I put a call through to Stan and he was very happy for me,,I called my fiancee Ehi to inform her of the latest development,and she screamed for joy on the other end of the phone in excitement.....
I couldn't wait for Monday to come,I was eagerly waiting,I was too excited to resume work....
Thankfully it was Monday already, and I woke up very early,got dressed and off I went....I got there before Stan,I was warmly welcomed by the CEO,and he asked Stan to take me to my office and put me through all i should know...
It was a big and beautiful office,and I had an office mate,as they were two desk and tables and even laptops,,,it seems I have a partner here,I asked Stan,oh yes AD,you shall be working withhhhhhhhhh,,just then,this beautiful lady walked in interrupting Stan, apparently she was my office mate,and there was something about her...
